Over the past week, we have observed vehicles parked on the grass near the field and along the exit close to the garage. Parking in these areas is strictly prohibited, as it creates a safety hazard. If the main parking lot is full, please use the available street parking along Gardner Avenue. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our grounds safe. |

Because our current operational referendum will expire soon, a Community Survey was sent to all parents and community members to gain your feedback to assist with our planning moving forward. This survey was sent to you from School Perceptions as an email along with a hard copy to your mailing address. Please take the time to complete this survey to assist our school board and district with decision making as we move forward.

Dear BASD Families, The Health Services Department will be conducting Hearing and Vision Screenings this Fall and Winter. If your child passes the screening(s), you will not be contacted. However, you are welcome to contact the school Health Aide to learn about the screening findings. HEARING SCREENINGS Hearing screenings will take place from the end of October through mid-November. These screenings are for students in grades 5K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Hearing screenings will consist of: Audiometry-Screening of hearing acuity. Hearing is important for speech and language development, reading and learning. A hearing screening can detect if your child needs further testing. Even if your child has passed a hearing screening previously, their hearing can change over time. Hearing problems can also be related to medical problems. Hearing loss is invisible and the child could appear to not be paying attention. VISION SCREENINGS Vision screenings will take place from mid-November through December and may go into January. These screenings are for grades 5K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th. Vision screenings use the visual acuity test. This test is used to determine the smallest letters you can read on a standardized chart (Snellen chart) or a card held 10 feet (3 meters) away. Vision screenings are crucial for young children, as they often don’t realize that their perception of the world may not be correct. Without early detection and treatment, vision problems can result in permanent vision loss and learning challenges. Screenings are just a snapshot of how your child performs on the day of the screening and are not a substitute for a complete hearing or eye examination. If you have any questions about the school vision and hearing screening program, please contact your child’s Health Aide or the Health Services department. If you do not want your child to participate in this year’s hearing or vision screenings, please notify your child’s school Health Aide prior to the screening time frame. Sincerely,
Jill Dreger RN BSN NCSN Director of Health Services Burlington Area School District |
