THE DYER WAY
We will be respectful.
We will be responsible.
We will be honest.
We will be engaged.
We will be kind.
To emphasize the positive attributes of our school community and the students working within it, we have summarized our behavior expectations for each student in The Dyer Way. We believe that if students maintain these five expectations, we will have well-rounded individuals with strong character that come together to form a positive school environment where all students can thrive.
Using The Dyer Way as its guiding principles, Dyer School has adopted a Positive Behavior System to encourage positive student behavior. Every student at Dyer has the right to be educated in a safe, respectful and welcoming environment. Dyer actively works toward a school environment characterized by positive interpersonal relationships among students. The components of PBS at Dyer include: Lessons related to positive choices taught during Morning Meetings and reinforced in the classroom and at recess/lunch; celebrations throughout the year to recognize and celebrate the positive choices students are making; and behavior contracts for students struggling with positive choices that are initiated by teachers, designed with the student’s input and communicated to parents.
