Dyer Student Drop-off and Pick-up

Morning - Students can arrive beginning at 7:45 when staff members are present for supervision. Here is a MAP of Dyer's Traffic Flow.

Students in the morning:

• EC, 4K, and 5K students will enter the building through the gym lobby doors and go to the cafeteria for breakfast and wait for their teacher. 
• All other students will walk up the sidewalk and path to morning line up on the playground with their class.  

Bus Riders:

• Buses will pull in and park diagonally in the parking lot to drop off students.

Parent Pick Up/Drop-off  (MAP)

• Pick up and drop off will only be allowed in the circle drive.  Parents will not be able to enter the parking lot for pick up and drop off.
• Parents should use Kendrick St going South or Orchard St., going West towards Dyer. Do not turn left into or out of the circle drive. 
• If the circle drive is full, parents should stage and wait on Kendrick Ave or Orchard St.  (Do not block traffic or driveways.)
• Once in the circle drive, each parent should pull all of the way forward until they reach the drop-off area between the cones. 
• Students should get out on the passenger side of the car and walk along the sidewalk and path to the morning line-up area. 
• Parents should not get out of their car in the circle drive.  If you need to unbuckle your child or get out for any reason, please park and use the parking lot. 

Parking Lot Use:

• If entering the building, please park in one of the solid line spots that are further from the school.  The first lane of parking with dotted lines is for buses only during the school day.  

Students who Walk or Ride their Bike:

• We encourage students to cross at the intersection of Orchard Ave. and Kendrick Ave. Bike racks will be on the sidewalk between the building and Orchard Ave.
• Walk along the sidewalk and path to the morning line-up area on the playground.

Afternoon - Dismissal time is 3:10, but we encourage parents to wait until 3:15 to pick up their children as traffic will be less congested.

• If the circle drive is full, parents should stage and wait on Kendrick Ave or Orchard St.  (Do not block traffic or driveways.)
• Once in the circle drive, each parent should pull all of the way forward until they reach the pick-up area between the cones.
• Each parent should pull all of the way forward in the right lane next to the curb. Do not pass.  Parents should continue to pull forward to be in the loading zone between the cones. 
• Students will exit the building and line up along the front of the building.  Staff will talk with driver to ask for the student, who will be called over. 
• Students should use the sidewalk and get into the passenger side of the car.
• Parents need to turn right out of the circle drive or parking lot.

Exiting the Circle Drive and Parking Lot (Morning or Afternoon):

• Parents will need to turn right out of the circle drive and go south on Kendrick to Hillside Dr.  Turn left on Hillside Dr.  Turn left on Hillside Dr.  You can take Hillside as it turns into Dardis Dr.
• To go East or South, you can turn right onto Lincoln Ave to McHenry St.
• To go North or West, you can continue on Dardis Dr., turn right on Rose Ann, Turn left on Elmwood and proceed to State St.
