The Community Education Department will run a youth basketball program for boys and girls in grades 1 thru 6. The program will focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and basketball fundamentals. Our intent is to provide an opportunity to learn and improve basketball skills as well as to provide a positive experience for your child. It's a great form of education and exercise over the cold winter months.
Registered players will be assigned to a volunteer coach. Volunteer coaches will be responsible for contacting the players on their roster with practice and game information. All teams will practice and play games on Saturday afternoons.
Each team will practice for one hour on Saturday afternoons: December 14th, December 21st, and January 4th.
A six-week game schedule will run from January 11th thru February 15th.
Games will be one hour, and times will vary each week.
All grades will play at Karcher Middle School.
A minimum of 12 children must be registered per each age group in order to offer that age's league. Players will receive a team t-shirt.
Your involvement as parents is critical to the continued success of this program. Please consider being a volunteer coach; the kids need your support. Volunteer coaches will be asked to pick up a team packet in the Burlington High School cafeteria prior to the season starting, which will include your roster, practice times, and rules. At this time, we will discuss the upcoming season and coaches will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
