Elementary Attendance Boundary Information
The Burlington Area School District will redistrict its elementary school boundaries as a result of the 2018 referendum. The $43.65 million referendum had the goals of improving safety and security, maintain buildings, a long-term solution for Karcher Middle School, have the 4K-8 Montessori program in one location, improve elementary buildings, and reduce the number of school transitions.
In fall of 2021, the district will consist of five 4K-5 elementary schools, one grade 6-8 middle school, and 9-12 high school. By adjusting the district’s grade configuration, students will only change schools twice (between grades 5 and 6, and between grades 8 and 9) which helps build community within the school and will address the current overcrowding in some elementary schools.
A volunteer committee will use this evaluation criterion (approved by the Burlington Area School District's School Board) to guide its decisions. The committee presented options to the School Board on September 21. The board approved the new boundaries (Option D) at its October 12 meeting. The next step is for district administration to finalize the logistics. Attendance boundary assignments were mailed to families on March 12, 2021.
